Body surface communication
Wi-R limits signals to users body surface unlike Bluetooths 5-10m radius accessible by anyone nearby. Devices communicate across body - smartphone in hand to smartwatch on wrist, fitness tracker on ankle, or smart glasses on head - providing energy efficiency and physical security.
Performance specifications
Pioneered by Shreyas Sen in 2016, Wi-R achieves 100x energy reduction at sub-0.1 nJ/bit versus Wi-Fi Bluetooth, one-tenth of UWB. Current prototypes sustain 1Mb/s throughput with 20Mb/s roadmap supporting live-streamed video.
